The bio-needles are derived from natural freshwater sponges that primarily live in clear, slow-flowing waters. These sponges possess a fine, mineral supporting structure made up of tiny, needle-shaped silicate structures – the so-called spicules.

 

In cosmetics, they are used as a bioactive microneedle component because they stimulate skin regeneration and improve the absorption of active ingredients. After a complex purification and hydrolysis process, they are processed into highly purified, biological microneedles – the basis of our high-quality active ingredient with 99% purity.

The production of our Spongilla
Spicules begins with the
careful selection of natural
Freshwater sponges of the genus
Spongilla.
These are collected gently,
cleaned and dried to preserve their delicate structure.
 
The sponges are then shredded and undergo an initial coarse cleaning process to remove organic residues, small stones, and sediment. This is followed by a patented multi-stage sieving process that isolates the finest particle sizes and ensures that only the highest quality, structurally intact spicules are processed further.

After purification, the material is dried and stabilized under strictly controlled conditions. The aim is to prevent breakage and preserve the characteristic needle structure. Another patented process protects the spicules from stress and moisture absorption during drying. The powder is then stored in light-protected, airtight containers to prevent decomposition and ensure long-term quality. This process guarantees exceptionally high storage stability with consistent effectiveness.

Analytical methods confirm a purity of at least 99%. In addition, microbiological tests and long-term stability tests are conducted to ensure consistent safety and quality. The result is a highly pure, stable spicule powder with optimal pungency and potency.
